Fifth-place finish in Battle at the Border opener at Sharon Speedway
A tripleheader weekend with the World of Outlaws (WoO) Case Late Model Series brought Nick Hoffman and the Tye Twarog Racing team to Bedford (Pa.) Speedway on Thursday evening for the annual Billy Winn Classic.
Chasing a $15,000 payday Thursday’s rescheduled 40-lap feature, Hoffman rallied after a lap-24 flat tire to finish 10th.
For the Battle at the Border opener on Friday at Sharon Speedway (Hartford, Ohio), Nick outran Brandon Sheppard in his heat race before placing fifth in the A-Main.
On Saturday, Nick was forced to take a provisional into the $15,000-to-win Battle at the Border finale after missing a trip to the scales following his heat. Pinned on the 12th row, Hoffman marched forward 11 spots in the 50-lap affair to salvage a 12th-place finish.
Hoffman’s weekend concluded with a fifth-place finish in the DIRTcar Summer Nationals event on Sunday at Wayne County Speedway (Orrville, Ohio).
Nick remains in second in the latest World of Outlaws point standings.
