Fifth-place finish in Dirt Late Model Dream prelim at Eldora
Nick Hoffman returned to action over the weekend as his preliminary night for the 30th annual Dirt Late Model Dream kicked off on Friday at Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio).
With a brand new format dividing the 100-car field in two over Thursday and Friday, Hoffman timed in sixth-fastest in his group before placing third in his heat. Gunning for the $25,000 winner’s payday in Friday's prelim, Nick improved six positions in the 50-lap affair to register a fifth-place finish. He trailed Devin Moran, Devin McDowell, Brandon Sheppard, and Jonathan Davenport to the checkers.
On Saturday, Nick squeezed into the $100,030-to-win Dream XXX finale with the third-and-final transfer spot in his heat. Rolling off on the eighth row, Hoffman slowed and did not return after bringing out a lap-55 caution with fluid leaking from under his car.
