Nick Hoffman finishes fifth in World of Outlaws point standings
To conclude his rookie year on tour with the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series, Nick Hoffman took the Tye Twarog Racing No. 9 Late Model to The Dirt Track at Charlotte (Concord, N.C.) on Wednesday for 17th annual World Finals.
With the 74-car field divided into two groups for a pair of qualifying sessions, Hoffman followed up the fifth-fastest lap in his first round with the second-quickest lap in his 37-car field in the second session.
Starting on the front row of his heat on Thursday, Nick was collected in an opening lap tangle that buried him for the remainder of the night. He took a provisional into the opener and went onto gain 10 positions to finish 17th.
For another round of prelims on Friday, Hoffman’s runner-up showing in his heat race sent him into the redraw. Chasing the $15,000 top prize in the final preliminary feature, Nick faded in the 35-lapper to place 14th.
On Saturday, Nick raced into the $25,000-to-win World Finals finale with a runner-up finish in his heat. Receiving the ninth-starting position via the redraw, Hoffman muscled forward two positions in the 50-lap affair to register a seventh-place finish.
Nick was crowned the 2023 Germfree Rookie of the Year and finished fifth in the final World of Outlaw point standings.
